And the #Contax #T2 has a better exposure compensation dial than most other cameras, a bloody #aperture ring on the lens and manual focus setting too :) #Astonishing

Hard to see it all in one pic, but the #Minox #35ML has a thread for a cable release next to the shutter button, a hotshoe for an external flash, and a knurled ring to cock the shutter without winding the film on for double exposures. #Astonishing design.

Two fantastic cameras, not even as compact cameras, but compared to SLRs. The #Contax #T2 is my current daily rider, as it has a flash and AF for casual snaps, but the #Minox #35ML was my previous pocket camera. The #Zeiss #Sonnar 38mm f2.8 is a pretty unusual lens to have. I would expect a #Biogon or a #Planar, and slightly wider too, but the choice is excellent. Wide enough, very low distortion and the ability to get into the action. The #Minotar is an absolutely incredible lens and the camera is the most discreet thing I’ve ever owned.

Was using this lovely #Minolta #SRT303b that I bought from a mate - was his dad’s camera - but I cannot get the batteries right now - all the replacements are 1.5V or something and the original spec was 1.35V, and the higher voltage plays havoc with the analogue metering. #sigh

So this little threaded cover is for the #motordrive connection on the #F3HP, and I bought spare from eBay years ago for a fiver or something. I thought I’d lost mine, and wanted the #MD-4 off because it was too heavy (eight AA batteries alone in there) and rang #graysofwestminster to enquire about a new one. £65. I #laughed. They said, “it’s rare.” Utter, utter #bastards. They’re my nearest camera shop, I’ve spend thousands there over the years, but that was the moment I realized that they don’t give a toss about actual photographers, instead they’re a dealer of artefacts, driving prices up like Foxtons. I’ve never been particularly impressed with their vaunted #customerservice over and above many other shops - I expect the magazines award those epithets to their biggest advertisers. #sigh

Change of plan. Having a camera considered too nice to use is STUPID. In comes the F3 again, this time on active duty. #Nikon #F3HP #slr #film
