#CONSIDERTHELOBSTER: decades after #DavidFosterWallace wrote a brilliant piece for Gourmet magazine, the complexity - and, erm, hypocrisy - of shifting moral and ethical boundaries on which animals are edible seems as inconsistent and arbitrary as ever. Some don’t distinguish between killing for food and torturing to death. Others might say a mimosa is sentient. Either way, a good review from Jonathan Birch and colleagues at the #LSE.

Boat life is very dull, but enforced relaxation is quite pleasant, especially when the bar is open, the food is endless and excellent, and everything is cleaned three times a day. Not quite David Foster Wallace’s “A supposedly fun thing that I’ll never do again” but not far off. For those wanting to read the brilliant DFW piece from 1996, here you go: http://harpers.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/HarpersMagazine-1996-01-0007859.pdf #davidfosterwallace #cruise
