#SALVAGE: I grew up literally next door to this scrapyard, separated by a narrow alleyway, and woke up to either the sounds of cars being crushed, or the distant sounds of brass bands practicing at #KnellerHall, the Military School of Music. Times change, and Trevor from Whitton Salvage sadly passed away last year - the place is closed and one of the few light industrial spots around is being transformed into housing. Probably. #whitton

Ditching the Military School of Music at #KnellerHall and marooning its museum is nearsighted and counterproductive if this country seeks to maintain and soft power. Not all soldiers carry guns. Here are some personnel bonding with local kids in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tonight was a thanks and goodbye party for the various volunteers and trustees celebrating the awesome work of the @legasee_veterans team who have managed to preserve so many stories and so much oral history. It’s going on tour. Put the museum on the todo list and see a bugle found on the #Waterloo battlefield or a horn used in the #Crimea. And hope that the entire beautiful site doesn’t go for private housing.

It’s the trumpet from the Charge of the Light Brigade, October 1854 in the #CrimeanWar. This and other treasures found in TW2.
