Another #SR71 picture. Because I’ve just been in pub with @photonpete and he knows about these things: the flame from the engine during takeoff was longer than the fuselage, which is frickin long. And they would have to refuel straight after takeoff, because the thing would leak fuel like a sieve until it got to temperature and the metal expanded enough to seal all the joints. So when some dipshit hipster gives you the elevator pitch about their ultra-fast new hypersonic plane startup, ask them if they ever studied engineering. And then ask them how fuel their plane will leak during takeoff.
