This guy and his wife (not pictured) are my go-to for #streetfood and snacks. He’s making me a #TaiwaneseCrispyCake, which is two eggs on a pancake, covered in spring onion and then flipped and covered in a sauce with some fritters and sometimes frankfurters. Folded up and rolled up and eaten, hot, en route to anywhere. That block is about to be redeveloped and it looks like nearly all those traders and shops will be booted out at the end of the month. Crap. What will I do? What will HE do? He’d rather be back in China as he has nothing to do here, but at least he can earn money. And on top of that, they have a little daughter, almost a year old, who is back in #China with her grandmother. The guy is pretty stoic, but his wife is ultra-sad, no surprise. If you’re on #CharingCrossRoad, stop for a snack. The #HongKongWaffles with #Nutella. Street food isn’t a bunch of pissed-off ex-office drones opening up an overpriced stall, it’s this. #London
