#LEICAM9: goodbye to this one, just over ten years, and 16300 pictures later. Not a huge amount of use, but a constant companion. Travels across North America, Europe, Asia and Oz, and a little trip on a #Gaza boat led to eight months in Israeli captivity, but she’s off to a new home now and hopefully a lot more use. #leica #m9 #leicacamera

#MUM: born in Mombasa - in The Colony and Protectorate of Kenya - she has always held a British Passport and that has complicated the idea of immigrants for me. At 81, she’s up and down the stairs all the time, does her own shopping via the buses, and gets a bit lonely if she doesn’t see her grandchild regularly. I’ve considered leaving the country because of Brexit, but I’m in a fighting mood and I’m not leaving her. #mother #family #portrait #leica #twickenham

#TWICKENHAM: bumped into my longest-standing neighbour, Jessica, en route to my mum’s after the rugby. Realized I’d never taken her picture. She was born in her parents’ flat around the corner and apart from the year she was married, never been away from this little patch in sixty-nine years. My LEAST favourite camera, the #M9, just came back from a service at #Leica. It needed yet another new sensor or board, and I asked them to fix the damaged back and then, while they were at it, to replace the top plate. They sent back the old bits, and the damn thing looks a new camera. The dials have been a bit tetchy ever since I spilled a pint on them, and all the new controls are way better than the old ones. I also bought a case: time to protect this stupid thing. #leicam #leicam9 #rangefinder
And it’s back! #Leica have replaced the faulty sensor for free, on a camera that’s from 2009. Not that this a great camera to begin with, but it’s nice to use. And they switched out the covering with a really lovely new leathery material. The upgrade to an #M240 was around £2200, but glad I picked up an #EOS1Dx instead for a lot less. #LeicaM9 #rangefinder
